Course Description

Spaciously laid out on a hilly terrain

Aono Golf Course is a public golf course that opened in August 1992. It has hosted many traditional competitions such as the Aono Open Golf Tournament, which includes professionals, and the Aono Junior Tournament. The course is located on a hilly terrain in Kasai City, Hyogo Prefecture, and is characterized by its overall flatness and the fact that the pins are visible from most tee grounds. While the wide fairways on each hole make it easy for beginners to play, there are also holes that require strategy, and together with the well-maintained greens, the course offers satisfaction to advanced players as well. Even the pros are not allowed to play up the fairways easily, and all the courses are full of interesting and strategic features that make them full-fledged courses. The course has started to allow passenger carts to drive on the fairways, which is rare in Japan.

The out and in courses look very different from each other. The outing is designed around three hilly terrain, and the key to success in scoring is to hit the slightly longer short holes. The middle hole, the 9th, surrounded by water, is the most beautiful hole.

On the other hand, the in-ground is spaciously laid out over 24,000 square meters of land. There are few blinds, but the undulating uphill and downhill holes are accentuated. The fairways are flat but narrow throughout, so it is important to keep the ball in play. While lakes and water hazards are not noticeable, bunkers are skillfully placed, so you need to be careful. On all holes, you need to think about the landing area of your tee shot before you hit the ball. In general, many holes are narrow, especially the famous 15th hole, where the fairway is so narrow that there is no place to land the tee shot. The long and varied 17th and 18th holes are the ones you should be on your guard for.

The key to success at Aono Golf Course lies in how to tackle the short holes No. 2, No. 8, and No. 12. 3 of the 4 par 3 holes are over 200 yards long and the greens are small. In particular, the 2nd hole is considered to be a difficult hole where you need to hit a high ball to stop even if you get on the green.

The second point is how to attack the shorter par 5s, the 4th, 6th, 11th, and 15th holes, where it is easy to fall into the design trap of aiming for birdie because of their short distance. A precise approach shot and putting with careful positioning will determine the scoring.

There are many relatively easy holes for birdie except for the short and long par 3s, so you should not overdo it on par 3s and avoid hitting too many shots. The greens are generally not too difficult from the bottom or the top, so depending on how well you putt, you can expect to score well. In addition to the golf course, tennis and grand golf can be enjoyed, and accommodations (21 rooms) are available.
