18 holes with the magnificent nature of Aso as a backdrop
Designed by Shiro Akahoshi and opened in 1966, this Kumamoto Prefecture golf course has a long history and tradition of hosting tournaments such as the Bridgestone Aso Open.
This 18-hole hillside course takes full advantage of the magnificent terrain of Aso. You can enjoy a handmade course that makes good use of the varied terrain of the Aso Caldera. Most of the holes are flat and the fairways are wide, allowing you to hit bold shots. The course consists of the unique courses of Kijima and Nakadake. The Kijima OUT Course is beautifully landscaped with trees over 50 years old. The Nakadake IN Course is a varied course with impressive volcanic rocks scattered throughout.
The clubhouse is designed by Antonin Raymond with a sense of history that makes you feel at home. The restaurant is reputed to serve very good food. There is also a large bathroom with a large bathtub where you can relax after a day's play. The bunker, chip shot, and 150-yard driving ranges are also well equipped.
If you are driving, it takes 30-40 minutes from Kumamoto City via a free high-standard road (Trans-Central Kyushu Highway). The nearest IC is the Kumamoto IC on the Kyushu Expressway, 27 km away. By train, the nearest station is Akamizu Station on the JR Hohi Main Line, and the golf course is a short 5-minute cab ride from the station. It is also a 40-minute cab ride from Kumamoto Airport, which attracts golfers from far away.
