Course Description

JPGA Saga Sammy tournament host course

The Katsura Golf Club is located in Tomakomai City, Hokkaido. It takes about 15 minutes from the Chitose airport by car. The course, opened in 1993, is the tournament course with 18 holes laid out on the north vast ground, is designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.. The LPGA Nitori Ladies Golf Tournament was held for 4 years from 2020 to 2013. The course is flat and surrounded by dense trees. The course is located in the forest but each hole has different character because there are undulation, hazards, dry creeks and water hazards. There is a old Katsura tree on the right side of the fairway in the 18th hole and the course name comes from the tree. As the course is very difficult, it is important to avoid trees that are comparable to the hazards in order to get a good score.

The 3rd hole is par-5 HDCP3. There is a dry creek on the 300 yards point and it had better to pass through at the second shot. At the teeing shot, you should aim the left side 250 yards point of the fairway which is slope to the right.

The 12th hole is the par-4 HDCP8 dogleg to the left. As it is must to cross over the penalty area including dry creek at the teeing shot, you should aim the left side of the bunker. From the second shot, it is important to shot straight.

The 15th hole is par-4 HDCP14. There is a large pond on the right side. It had better to aim the between 2 bunkers on the left side at the teeing shot. Be aware that your approach shot to the green may fall into the pond if it is too weak or too right.

The 18th hole is par-4 HDCP4. At the teeing shots, you should better aim to the left side of the Katsura tree to get flying distance. As the green is surrounded by 5 bunkers, it is better to approach from slightly left side.

The clubhouse is spacious, like Hokkaido. As the store has various items, you can enjoy shopping.
