Course Description

Hosted the Japan Open, the PGA Championship and many tournaments.

Kiyosumi Golf Club is located in Higashi Matsuyama City, Saitama Prefecture, 5 km from Higashi Matsuyama IC of the Kanetsu Expressway, and it takes 15 minutes from the Higashi Matsuyama Station of the Tobu Tojo Line by car.

This course opened in 1993, and it was designed by Syo Okubo who is a member of Japanese Society of Golf Course Archtects. He is a disciple of Seichi Inoue who is the leading person of Golf Couse Archtects, and he is involved in design, supervision and  refurbishment of many courses. His philosophys of design are "Natural-friendly course layout", "Strategic design to make golf interesting", "Ease of playing and fairness to enjoy everyone", "Landscape and beauty" and "Ease of maintenance to keep the course good condition".

This course is also Natural-friendly and beautiful enjoyable design. It is important to get over the first 9 holes well to get a good score.  The 2nd hole par-5 HDC3 has the forest on the left side from 100 yards point to 200 yards point and it is the best to aim the right side of the fairway in teeing shot. This hole is the most difficult hole to make a par in the 4 par-5 holes of this course. At the 3rd hole par-5 HDC15, the Jomon-style residence trace(about 10,000 years ago) was excavated when this hole was constructing. And it is reproduced as a grass bunker in front of the green. It is difficult to approach the green, and the green inclination also difficult. You should approach from the front of the pin. The 4th hole par-4 HDC1 is the dogleg to the right. As the right side is the out of bounds, you should not slice or push out. The club selection of the second shot is very important because the green is the largest in this course. The 5th hole par-4 HDC7 is the famous hole that has the 3-tiered green surrounded by bunkers and grass bunkers. The difficulty depends on the 3-tiered green and the lie of second shot. The 11th hole par-4 HDC4 has the distance, the characteristic bunker, the inclination and the stream crossing the course. As the stream is crossing from the center of the fairway to the front of the green, it is necessary to shot accurately distance. The 15th hole par-4 HDC2 is very beautiful that it has a big pond on the left side, but it is difficult because the second shot has the distance and the green has inclination. You should select the club carefully because the second shot is easy to become shorter than you think due to the uphill. The 18th hole par-4 HDC6 is the dogleg to the left and the green is surrounded by the pond. The second shot and the inclination of the green is difficult.

The clubhouse is elecant and cozy. The locker room and the bathroom are very clean. It gives the players quality time.
