Selected as one of the top 100 courses in Asia Pacific
Osaka Golf Club is located in Misaki Town, Osaka Prefecture, 14 km from the Sennan Interchange on the Hanwa Expressway, and was founded in 1937 by six volunteers. They began construction of a 6,700-yard, par-72 championship course on an approximately 800,000-square-meter hillside site by the sea. The course was designed by Osamu Ueda, who had just returned from Europe at the time. The course opened the following year in 1938. In 1939, the course hosted the Kansai Professional Championship. Construction began in 1952 to reopen the course, with the opening of the 9-hole course in October of the same year, and the 18-hole course was finally completed in 1953.
The 3rd hole on the OUT course is a 446-yard par 4 downhill to the ocean, and the tee shot should be aimed slightly left of the fairway. The 7th hole, a 396-yard par 4, is also a par 4 facing the ocean. The IN Course has three par 3s and three par 5s, and the par 3s in particular are key to scoring as they are affected by the wind. 14th hole, 145 yards, par 3, is directly affected by the ocean wind. The 16th hole, 176 yards, par 3, is affected by the sea wind more than it looks, so choose your club carefully and do not hit over the green. The final 18th hole, a 156-yard, par 3, is a spectacular hole with Allison Bunker surrounding the green. It is effective to aim at the bunker with one club larger and less forceful shot.
Osaka Golf Club has been selected as one of the top 100 courses in Asia Pacific, and is one of the most worthwhile courses you should play when you come to Osaka.
