Rusutsu Resort Golf 72 is one of the largest golf courses in Hokkaido, with 4 courses, 72 holes, and 9 holes for night play. Each course has a different flavor, allowing golfers to choose the course that best suits their skill level.
This course features hilly terrain, yet there is little height difference on each hole – the maximum elevation is a downhill shot of 17m at the 14th. Beginning with a par-5 hole sprawling towards Westin Rusutsu Hotel, the front nine boasts a short 6th hole showcasing a spectacular view of the green surrounded by a pond. The 9th is a 90-degree dogleg to the right. Characterized by a larger number of straight holes than the front nine, the back nine starts with a par-4 hole with the green situated at a moderately elevated height. Cap off your round with dynamic shots across the vast 18th hole, which stretches more than 50m across.
The course is an orthodox design, with wide, forgiving fairways and gently sloping terrain, but the targets for shots become narrower as they approach the greens. Natural lakes and creeks are well incorporated into the design. Overall, the number of bunkers is not very large, but they are impressive. For example, the Wooden Bunker on the 17th hole has trees as tall as you are, which puts a lot of pressure on the tee shot.
The Tower Course was designed by professional golfer Jumbo Ozaki to take advantage of the exquisite undulation and location in the natural beauty of Rusutsu, Hokkaido, and the beautiful view surrounded by white birch forests is one of the course's attractions.
The out course starts with a par 5 towards the Tower Hotel, and the 2nd hole is a memorial hole where you can challenge the record of professional Shoji Ozaki. The in-course 10th hole begins with a slight uphill par 4, and the final 18th hole is a 90-degree dogleg to the right.
