Course Description

Hosted the JLPGA Championship and many tournaments.

Satsuma Golf Resort is a golf course located on a resort plateau in Satsuma County, Kagoshima Prefecture.

Opened in 1991, it is also a prestigious course where the LPGA Senior Tour “Kyocera Ladies Open in Satsuma” was held. There is a hotel overlooking a tropical landscape, where you can enjoy playing golf every day while staying overnight.

The course has 18 holes with a total yardage of 6.961 yards. Overall, the course is flat with moderate ups and downs. It is also orthodox but with subtle undulations, and there are no blind holes, making it an enjoyable course for both beginners and advanced players. The out 5th is a spacious downhill, so you need to pay attention to the direction of the wind as you hit the ball. The out 9th is the middle hole of 398 yards, but you may feel it is long as it is an uphill hole. The 15th hole, the middle hole, is a short cut over the trees on the right side, which is a fun challenge. 18th is considered particularly challenging. It has been the scene of many famous tournament play.

This hole requires a long drive because of the gentle uphill from the tee ground to the green. At the same time, accurate shots are required from the second shot onward, making this the final test for golfers.

For meals, you can enjoy the brightly lit golf restaurant in the hotel, which offers a menu using local ingredients. A selection of Satsuma's shochu and sake is also available.

The bathhouse is a hot spring bath where you can relax after a hard day's work. It is easy to make a strategic plan. While the course is generally flat, the undulating fairways make it difficult to aim at a wide variety of shots. The large greens make it relatively easy to hit the green in regulation, but be careful as the undulations with subtle slopes affect your putting and there is a high possibility of 3 putts depending on the pin position. The bunkers are soft and light, so be careful as they are prone to becoming a big eye sore.

The restaurant overlooks the 18th hole and the beautiful mountain ridge in the distance, and is a great place to chat after a round of golf.
